2014-2015 Season
Challenge: Cascade Effect
Cascade Effect was played on a 12’x12’ diamond shaped field. The game centered around placing small wiffle balls into tubular rolling goals. The higher the rolling goal, the more points earned. Additionally, teams could knock down a kickstand, releasing many balls, park in specified parking zones, and shoot balls into the high center goal.
Two randomly selected robots had to work together against as an Alliance against two other robots to complete as many challenges as possible during a thirty-second autonomous period and a two-minute teleop (human controlled) period. Alliances are designated as either “Red” or “Blue.”

How We Did:
For the 2014-2015 season, the Needham robotics teams chose to take part in the R2B2 League along with other regional FTC teams like Hank’s Tanks and 2 Bits and a Byte. It was a different way of competing as we went two three league meets, one league championship and the state championship where all the top FTC teams compete (league or no league).
The beginning of the season was rough but we pulled through in the end.
At the League Championships we won the Connect Award and qualified for the MA State Championship. For pictures and other information please click here.
At the State Championship we came in second place for the Motivate Award. For pictures and other information please click here.
Overall it was a tough season filled with many learning experiences.
